The local community was invited to a free presentation and workshop on advanced planning. The spokesperson was Shirley Pan, the executive director of Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care. The focus of this event was to make the public aware that it is never too early to make sure the wishes of our loved ones -regarding their final days - are known and adhered to. Do our senior relatives hope to be in their home when pass away? Or in a hospital? Do they desire or reject the use of breathing tubes? What type of funeral services would they prefer? These questions, and many more, were explored in the presentation and in small table group sessions.
